Prada Foundation in Ca’ Corner della Regina. Brief history
Built on the ruins of the palace in which Catherine Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, was born, Ca’ Corner della Regina in the neighbourhood of Santa Croce has been home since 2011 to the Venetian branch of the Fondazione Prada, the famous institution well-known for its passionate research into contemporary art.
Visiting Fondazione Prada
The temporary exhibitions held every year at Fondazione Prada Venice see artists and curators descend on the stunning City of Water to reflect on the most disparate of issues in a constant dialogue with the world around them, making the palazzo of Santa Croce a limitless source of inspiration for all those that love art.
But Ca’ Corner isn’t just about the here and now. Once inside the palazzo take your time to admire the spaces uncovered by the ongoing preservation and restoration work.
From the ground floor climb one of the two eye-catching staircases and head for the first and second mezzanine, in the direction of the first piano nobile. Here, amidst the stucco and marble, you will notice the frescos depicting episodes from the life of Catherine Cornaro and the sumptuous spaces that characterise this place. You will be absorbed by the strong sense of history here.
At Fondazione Prada in Ca’ Corner you will be amazed by the modernity of city of Venice.
