A few minutes from Santa Lucia station, Palazzo Mocenigo was certainly built before 1500 but acquired its modern-day appearance at the start of the 17th century when it became the residence of the descendents of Nicolò Mocenigo, brother of the Doge Alvise I. The last heir, Alvise Nicolò, bequeathed the palace to the Municipality of Venice in 1945.
In 1985 the palace was opened to the public in the form of the Study Centre on the History of Textiles and Clothing.
