Querini Stampalia Palace is one of the most fascinating and best-preserved house museums in Venice. It is located opposite the splendid Campo di Santa Maria Formosa, a few minutes from Saint Mark’s Square.
The sumptuous residence of the Querini family, it became the headquarters of the foundation opened in 1869 at the behest of the last descendent of the family, Count Giovanni and, respecting his wishes, was transformed into a highly regarded place of study and culture.

Querini Stampalia Foundation. History
While the piano nobile conserves all of the atmosphere of a typically lavish 18th century noble residence, on the ground floor the advent of modernity can be seen in the perfect balance of elegance and functionality in the architectural work of Carlo Scarpa, Mario Botta and Valeriano Pastor.
Visiting Fondazione Querini Stampalia
A visit to Fondazione Querini Stampalia is an engrossing journey into the sophisticated beauty of 18th century Venice. The rooms conserve the original furnishings and paintings: here you’ll be able to admire paintings by Bellini, Tiepolo and Longhi and an extremely rich collection of Sèvres porcelain and precious fabrics.
Take time to observe the landscapes of Gabriel Bella, which depict vibrant scenes of Venetian life, popular festivals and traditions, and you’ll feel like you are looking at the pages of an illustrated history book. Visit the ground floor restored by Carlo Scarpa where you can admire the functional and straightforward fusion of old and new, earth and water, tradition and modernity.
Fondazione Querini Stampalia is a key place in Venetian culture. Here you will learn to love the discrete charm of the art and from here your journey can continue on to other contemporary Venetian sites.
