Palazzo Trinci is the most famous building in the historic centre of Foligno, as well as one of the most interesting late-Gothic residences in Central Italy.
Palazzo Trinci was the residence of the important Trinci family, which governed the city between 1305 and 1439. It is justifiably said that it houses a “metaphorical encyclopaedia of the humanistic culture of the time”.

PALAZZO TRINCI. THE VISIT
Your visit begins with the splendid loggia decorated with precious frescoes by Gentile da Fabriano dating to the early 15th century, which illustrate the legend of Romulus and Remus. From here you enter the Sala delle Arti Liberali e dei Pianeti, the most beautiful and without doubt the most famous of the palazzo’s rooms.
You will then continue on to the Sala dei Giganti, frescoed with illustrious characters and emperors that shaped the history of Ancient Rome. At the top of the stairs, also on the second floor, is the Sala di Sisto IV, named after Pope Sixtus IV who in 1475 had the entire wooden ceiling that bears his coat of arms remade.
The palazzo is also home to the Art Gallery, the Archaeology Museum, the Municipal Museum (Museo dell'Istituzione Comunale) and the Multimedia Museum of Jousts and Tournaments.
If you find yourself in Foligno a visit to Palazzo Trinci is a must. A fascinating experience steeped in history, art and beauty is guaranteed. We look forward to seeing you.
