A journey through time that allows you to experience the history of San Genesio in a single place, a village with a rich and exceptionally well-documented past, a point of reference for the knowledge of the late antique and medieval history of the lower Valdarno area
The site was located at the center of particularly important routes, navigable rivers and the Via Francigena. Of late ancient origin, in the Middle Ages the village grew in importance, as evidenced by the large parish church, also becoming the seat of meetings of the rulers of the Tuscan cities and a place of imperial diets. Destroyed in 1248, its remains have re-emerged thanks to the archaeological excavations of 2001.
