MUSEO CIVICO GIOVANNI FATTORI. HISTORY
Thanks to the careful restoration work of recent years, not only has the original façade of the elegant Villa Mimbelli been restored, but so too have its interiors in the shape of its ceilings, stuccos, ceramics and intaglio work.
The furnishings - such as fireplaces, mirrors, items of furniture, glass and crystal chandeliers - are in part original and in part restored, while the new wallpapers and curtains reproduce the original designs and colours.
VISITING THE MUSEO CIVICO GIOVANNI FATTORI
The museum is dedicated to the great 19th century Italian artist Giovanni Fattori, a true storyteller whose tales you will be able to identify with.
A visit to the museum begins with examples of Romantic and Academic art before, through the paintings of Fattori, moving on to the great names of the Macchiaioli school, like Lega, Signorini and Cabianca, and the diverse group of post-Macchiaioli and Divisionist artists.
The enduring strength of these works, masterpieces of power and truth, will capture your imagination with everyday moments, portraits and historical events from another time.
Your journey into 19th century Italy is closer than you think. Let us take you there, find out about our guided tours for individuals and groups.
