The Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art is the first Italian institution created from the beginning to collect, document and promote the most advanced artistic research.
The Centre, opened to the public in 1988, has produced and exhibited more than two hundred and fifty exhibitions and projects, organised special events and promoted educational initiatives for students and adults. It also has a collection of over a thousand works mapping artistic trends from the Sixties onwards.

The Centre is located in a splendid structure, designed by rationalist architect Italo Gamberini and expanded in 2016 by Maurice Nio, it is a city within a city: inside it there are 3,000 square metres of exhibition halls, an archive, the 60,000 volumes of the specialised CID/visual arts library, the auditorium-cinema, a bookshop, a restaurant, a bistro and an open-air theatre.

Transportation
By bus: from Florence Santa Maria Novella train Station: CAP and Lazzi routes to Prato
By train: Bologna-Florence line and Florence-Lucca-Viareggio line: Prato Centrale station. From the station it is possible to take a bus (LAM BLUE line), which stops in viale della repubblica about 200 metres from the museum.
By car: motorway A11 Firenze - Pisa, exit Prato est. Paying car parks are available all along viale della repubblica, or you can park in the free car park of the Unieuro-Il Globo shops, not far from the museum.
By bus: the CAP and Lazzi bus lines provide a connection service between Florence and Prato departing every 15 minutes from Santa Maria Novella station.

- The consumption of food and/or drinks in the common spaces and inside the exhibition areas is not permitted.
- The bookshop is open with access limited to two people at a time and there is an obligation to use gloves. Payment may be made using contactless cards and cash.
- The restaurant and bistrot are open.
- Please note that surveillance staff are also required to check and guarantee the physical distances are maintained, in addition to ensuring compliance with the rules set out above.
