HISTORY
The fund of the Teatro Regio covers a period of time that goes back to 1971.
The documentation available in the Archive makes it possible to investigate the administrative and cultural aspects that make it possible to reconstruct the activity of the institution as a whole: what was its availability, its choices, its aims and its conditioning.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century the documentary heritage has been enriched by a conspicuous photographic endowment represented by over 2,000 images of the artists involved in the opera seasons of the Teatro Regio and of the greatest singers and musicians of the century.
The "modern" section of the archive has also been deposited at the Casa della Musica, including the administrative correspondence after 1963 (about 2000 folders). ), heterogeneous paper documentation (posters, press reviews, stickers, sketches, technical projects), photographs (photographic reports of the works staged, photographs of artists and installations), but above all audio recordings (Audiocassettes, DAT, Reels, Audio CDs) of opera performances and concerts, regularly performed since 1962 and video recordings (VHS, BetaCam, Umatic) performed since 1979.
In the course of time the Archive's patrimony has been further enriched with donations, bequests and various deposits, consisting of printed musical scores and manuscripts, prints and photographs of performers and composers, famous autographs, pamphlets, librettos, musical and theatrical periodicals, sketches of sets and figurines, costumes, stage jewellery and various memorabilia.
THE ARCHIVE
The material is available for free consultation and is accompanied by targeted tools: the inventory of paper documentation has been published both in volume and on-line (until 1913); most of the library material (librettos, periodicals and pamphlets) and music (19th century scores and scores) can instead be consulted on the opac of the Parma library system.
