In Sardinian, Villa Abbas means the village of water, a highly appropriate name for an archaeological site and a residential area immersed in a fascinating spa area.
Visiting the museum you will see the finds excavated from the archaeological area of Santa Anastasia and the digs at Castello di Monreale, whose unmistakeable shadow looms large from the nearby hill.

CIVIC MUSEUM AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA VILLA ABBAS. VISIT
The museum is housed in a fine construction built in the first decade of the 1900s in Piazza Libertà, in the centre of the town of Sardara.
Covering two floors with eight rooms filled with display cabinets and pits, your visit will take you on an engrossing trip back in time, from the Middle Ages to the period of the Roman Empire and the Roman Republic, and through to the Punic civilisation and the prehistoric, Nuragic and pre-Nuragic ages. Although mainly from urban and suburban Sardara, some of the finds come from sites along the S.S. 131 road between Sardara and Monastir, and the XVIII Mountain Community.
Particularly recommended for schools due to its strong educational dimension, the visit continues outside of the museum at the nearby archaeological area framed by the town’s characteristic houses.
