Today it houses around 45,000 works, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, a significant graphic art collection, and an important archive of films, artists’ videos, and documentaries.
The building also houses the Art Library and the Photographic Archive of the Fondazione Torino Musei. The GAM offers the public an extensive program of exhibitions featuring Italian and international artists, as well as exhibition projects dedicated to the latest contemporary artistic research. The museum preserves works by some of the greatest Italian artists of the 19th century, such as Canova, Fontanesi, Fattori, Medardo Rosso, and Pellizza da Volpedo, as well as major 20th-century artists, including Balla, Boccioni, Casorati, Modigliani, De Chirico, Martini, Morandi, De Pisis, and Fontana.

The GAM also holds important works from the major international historical avant-gardes, including artists such as Klee, Picabia, Picasso, Ernst, Dix, and Calder, alongside works from the post-war neo-avant-garde movements through one of the most important collections of Arte Povera, featuring works by Merz, Boetti, Pistoletto, Paolini, Zorio, Anselmo, and Penone.
The museum also dedicates extensive spaces to the most contemporary artistic production, from Warhol to Twombly and Kiefer, and offers the public a rich program of events featuring some of the most interesting figures in the art world, as well as major exhibitions by Italian and international artists, focused on the latest artistic research.
