In the skies of the Colosseum. The new panoramic and inclusive elevator located inside the 27th fornix of the Colosseum will allow all visitors of the monument to reach the highest levels of the enclosure, in particular the gallery between the 2nd and 3rd order, recently restored to fully enjoy the beauty of the most famous monument in the world.
An elevator ensures that all visitors, with greater attention to those with mobility difficulties, can overcome the 100 steep steps separating the 1st order from the intermediate gallery and allow visitors to enjoy a unique view of the entire monument.
A space now visitable in its full splendour also thanks to an evocative and targeted lighting system that enhances the structures, the plastered surfaces and the graffiti, and to a didactic layout aimed at an effective visitor experience. The elevator was created through the synergy between the Archeological Park and the Orchestra Italiana del Cinema, protagonist in 2018 of an event aimed at the eradication of polio in the world.
Built in full compliance with the Parks indications and the regulations in force, the elevator is in line with the specificity of the site and fits harmoniously into the monument, minimising the occupation of space and in absolute respect of the existing wallings thanks to the use of pressure anchorage points that guarantee the total reversibility of the work. The construction of the elevetor allows all visitors, without exeption, to reach the gallery between the second and third order, returning it to use again after careful restoration work with conservation and safety in mind. A space now fully visitable again in its also thanks to an evocative and targeted lighting system that enhances the structures, the plastered surfaces and graffiti, and to a didactic layout aimed to enhance the visitors experience.
