The exhibition captures the essence of Fernando Botero's artistic vision, reflected in its title, which evokes the two defining elements of his poetics: weight, symbolizing the plastic strength and monumentality of form, and dreams, suggesting a suspended, timeless, and silent universe where everyday life is transformed into poetry.
The exhibition brings together some of the most iconic themes of Botero's oeuvre: female figures, scenes of everyday life, still lifes, the worlds of bullfighting and the circus, the monumental Serpent sculpture, and a significant selection of watercolors, in which the lightness of color preserves the full monumentality of form.
The installation also highlights the dialogue between Botero's works and the contemporary spaces of Palazzo Riso, emphasizing the enduring relevance of his figurative language while allowing visitors to appreciate the precision of his draftsmanship, the harmony of his palette, and the masterful construction of volume.
Part of a broader exhibition project spanning Palermo and Agrigento, the Palazzo Riso exhibition complements the Agrigento itinerary dedicated to myth and classical heritage, offering a different perspective that explores the artist's more intimate and lyrical dimension.
