HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Sanctuary was located on a section of the ancient Via Tiburtina and consisted of three areas: the theater, which took advantage of the natural slope of the terrain, a large square delimited by porticoes, and the actual temple. A series of terraces, porticoes, and colonnades also created a magnificent scenery around the place of worship.
VISIT TO THE SANCTUARY
Inside the complex, you can also visit the Antiquarium where you can admire some decorative elements of the temple, steles, and statues originally placed along the porticoes adorning the monument.
Your journey will end with a visit to the so-called "Torretta Canevari," an ancient collection point for water used for hydroelectric lighting.

Transportation
By Car
- Take the A24 motorway and exit at Tivoli or Castel Madama. From Villa Adriana, take Via degli Orti, then Via degli Stabilimenti.
- Alternatively, you can reach Tivoli town centre and park (for a fee) at Piazza Garibaldi or at the multi-storey car park in Piazza Massimo and continue on foot.
- Be aware of Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL).
By Bus from Rome
- Take Metro Line B to Ponte Mammolo station.
- From there, take the Co.Tra.L. bus to Tivoli. Buses depart from Via Prenestina, Via Tiburtina, or the motorway (recommended).
- Get off at the Largo delle Nazioni Unite stop and continue on foot: Piazza Santa Croce, Via della Missione, Via Campitelli, Via del Colle, Via degli Stabilimenti.
By Train
- From Termini Station or Tiburtina Station in Rome, take a train to Tivoli train station.
- From there, follow the walking route suggested below.
Tivoli Villas Link
- From the square in front of the Bagni di Tivoli train station, there is a direct bus connection to Villa d'Este.
- From Villa d'Este, you can reach the Sanctuary of Hercules Victorious in a few minutes on foot.
