HISTORY
The museum was founded in 1874 by the first members of the CAI - Club Alpino Italiano, with the creation of an Alpine lookout and an observatory on Monte dei Cappuccini, from where you can admire a panoramic view of over 450 kilometres across the Alps. This marked the beginning of a long story which in later years saw the site enriched with various collections, culminating in the opening of the museum we know today.
VISITING MUSEO NAZIONALE DELLA MONTAGNA "DUCA DEGLI ABRUZZI"
It is difficult to summarise what awaits you at the Museo Nazionale della Montagna in just a few words. Here you can admire the collections and material objects connected with the mountains in many different areas, such as religion, communications and tourism. There is also space for skiing and winter sports, including the collections of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, and a fitting reflection on sustainable development, also thanks to the historical account of the Club Alpino Italiano.
Heading up to the outdoor panoramic terrace, open your eyes and admire the breathtaking view over the Alps and the entire city of Turin.
