A symbol of the city, the civic tower is located on the top of the hill of the Piazza district, the upper part of Mondovì.
The structure was originally built in the 14th century as the bell tower of the ancient church of Sant'Andrea and remained so until its demolition by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. Subsequently, the tower was named "dei Bressani" after the important family that used it as a symbol of prestige and power, given its strategic position which allows for a spectacular view of the Langhe, the plain and the Alps, and the town.

Since 1933, on the east side of the tower, there has been a plaque dedicated to the geophysicist from Mondovì, Giovanni Battista Beccaria, who in 1762 used it as a trigonometric point for the determination of the meridian arc passing through Piedmont (between Andrate and Mondovì). Inside, it houses a section of the "Parco del Tempo" (Time Park), which allows you to discover various types of bell tower clocks, including that of the Tower, designed in 1859, which has the characteristic of moving a single hand on each of the four sides of the tower, the latter about two meters long. Between 1935 and 1937, some marble slabs were placed on the parapet to help orientation on the horizon line. At the entrance, there is a small neo-Gothic style building that houses a meteorological station of the Air Force.
