Palazzo Merulana presents the exhibition Ultrafisica by Mauro Reggio, curated by Valeria Rufini Ferranti, organized by Medina Art Gallery and sponsored by Marziali Caffè.
A leading figure on the contemporary art scene, in recent years Mauro Reggio has followed a steady path of growth that has allowed him to consolidate both his research contribution and his prolific production in the field. His metaphysical works focus on familiar urban landscapes, which he manages to transfigure, evoking the atmospheres of American photorealism through the use of pop elements such as dystopian color palettes, especially in the skies and backgrounds. Painting, sculpture, and architecture—the three canonical art forms—are deeply interconnected in the painter’s aesthetic: in particular, the first and the last prove to be complementary well beyond appearances, poised between classical archaeology and post-rationalism.
