San Marco Art Centre is located in one of the most iconic places in the world, Piazza San Marco in Venice, within the Procuratie, recently restored by Pritzker Prize–winning architect David Chipperfield.
Across its 16 galleries, the program sheds light on the unexpected, challenges conventions, and raises rigorous questions. Through research, dialogue, and experimentation, San Marco Art Centre critically examines contemporary visual culture and its relationship with history, science, philosophy, and society.
SMAC San Marco Art Centre is an independent and experimental organization that tests traditional models of art institutions and exhibition-making. It welcomes collaboration, providing institutions, artists, and creatives with a platform in Venice.
