A museum dedicated to an exceptional figure: the inventor of the revolutionary internal combustion engine.
This exhibition space is a tribute to the inventor Eugenio Barsanti, an extraordinary personality from Pietrasanta. He is celebrated for designing, alongside engineer Felice Matteucci in 1853, one of the most significant discoveries of the era: the first prototype of the internal combustion engine. Since 2009, the museum has been housed within Palazzo Panichi, which also hosts a section of the Museo dei Bozzetti dedicated to temporary exhibitions.

The museum also features materials related to the Barsanti and Matteucci International Award. Held annually in the inventor's name, the prize is bestowed upon those who continue the legacy of research and innovation in motorized transport, with a modern focus on solving environmental and pollution challenges arising from today's widespread use of vehicles.
