Copertino Castle is a Renaissance fortress that incorporates medieval structures: located on the edge of the historic center, today it is used as a museum.
BACKGROUND THE VISIT NOT TO BE MISSED
The imposing "Italian style" bastion fortress was completed around 1540, at the time of Charles V, to adapt the previous castle, begun in the 13th century from a single sighting tower, to the siege artillery.
The visit includes the galleries and ramparts, the frescoed Renaissance chapel and the suggestive courtyard, overlooked by all the rooms of the medieval castle.
The Maddalena Chapel, frescoed around 1430 and rediscovered only in 1968, with fragments of paintings and sinopias. The vineyard on the castle walls, open on extraordinary occasions.
