The Room of St. Paul or the Abbess's Chamber represents one of the most interesting pictorial cycles of the Italian Renaissance.
Commissioned by Correggio from the cultured Abbess Giovanna Piacenza in 1518, the Room of St. Paul depicts texts of Neoplatonic philosophy and uses an iconography that was no longer employed following the introduction of the Counter-Reformation.
