Museo della Stampa

Perugia - Foligno

The site will be closed in compliance with the DPCM 15th January 2021.

Museum of the Press
Foligno was one of the first cities in Italy to have a printing press. 540 years after the printing of the first copy of the Divine Comedy in Foligno (1472), the Museum of the Press was opened on Wednesday 11 April 2012. From the second half of the 15th century onwards, Foligno boasted printing traditions of considerable importance, and the origins of the production of paper date back to the mid 16th-century. Images and documents from the civic collections document the intellectual vitality of Foligno, which is now enriched by another piece of the puzzle allowing for greater awareness of the historic roots of the city.
