The exhibition is organised by the Rome Jewish Community in collaboration with Rome City Council’s Department for Cultural Growth and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo. It is held under the patronage of the French Embassy, the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur, the Côte d'Azur-Corsica Union of Jewish Communities and Yad Vashem Nice Côte d'Azur.

This project is the continuation of work started in 2017 with the exhibition at the Musée Masséna in Nice.

The Roman initiative will feature 20 new works portraying the faces and figures of children deported to Nazi concentration camps from Rome and Italy. To make these works, the artist researched images and photos from the time supplied by the Rome Jewish Community’s Historic Archive, the Museo della Shoah Foundation and the Jewish Contemporary Documentation Center.

The exhibition is in the form of a large installation in a semi-dark space, where the children’s portraits emerge from the darkness.

In fact, the display combines large and small portraits, etched on the surface of wooden scratchboard, emerging from the dark black background.

This exhibition aims to be a prayer for all the child victims of the Holocaust, reviving their memory through their portraits.

The project is part of “MEMORIA genera FUTURO”, a programme of events coordinated by Rome City Council on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day 2018.
