From Bruce Nauman to Pierre Huyghe, and including Mike Kelley, Cindy Sherman, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, Takashi Murakami, Sturtevant, Francesco Vezzoli, Cyprien Gaillard, David Claerbout, …, the moving image has always been present in each Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana exhibition since 2006, as well as in the large traveling exhibitions of the François Pinault Foundation, most notably in “Passage du Temps” in Lille in 2007, in which video was one of the focus points.  With “Voice of Images”, Palazzo Grassi will host its first exhibit entirely devoted to this form of artistic expression. Beyond its innovative character, proposing such a project in Venice concurrently with the 69th Venice International Film Festival highlights the particular strength of the ties uniting the City of Lights and cinema, and will participate in the dynamics of a festival that counts itself among the most exacting, the most open to the international cinematography and to experimental maneuvers. François Pinault entrusted the curating of “Voice of Images” to Caroline Bourgeois.
