Following a memory trip to Auschwitz, the heart of the devastating Shoah that rocked and shocked the 20th century, a group of students from various Rome high schools began to envisage a different way of recalling those horrendous events.
These boys' and girls' encounter with Studio Azzurro, a well-known Italian artists' collective active since the early '80s, has spawned "Testimoni dei testimoni. Ricordare e raccontare Auschwitz (Witnesses' Testimonials. Recalling and recounting Auschwitz)", an exhibition designed to be experienced as an event that urges visitors to undertake a physical and mental journey to keep the memory of the story alive.
The Studio Azzurro artists guide us in this experience, putting together a narrative - in the poetic style that distinguishes their work at the international level - designed for collective use and broken down into several different sections, some of which require active participation on the audience's part. They have offered to work on an idea developed by others, subscribing to the need and urgency to do so.
