Please note that for safety reasons the Coliseum can accommodate up to 3.000 people at once.

This could lead to delays in access to the site, even for pre-booked visitors.

For security reasons all visitors and their luggage shall be screened. To facilitate the security checks please insert any object (including mobile phone) in the bag/backpack or in the tray to be included in the X-ray.

It is confirmed the prohibition of bringing bottles and glasses containers, alcholic beverages and aerosols, backpacks, camping, bulky bags and luggage / trolley, can be introduced medium and small size backpacks to shoulder, which must be checked, as any other bag, with metal detectors, opened and visually inspected by the Urbe Security Institute, responsible for the entrance inspection.

Roma Pass

From March 1st 2019 it will be mandatory for Roma Pass holders to make a resevation for the Colosseum – Flavium Amphiteather.

The cost of the reservation fee is € 2,00.

  • Teachers and students of Architecture, Conservation of Cultural Assets, Learning Sciences and degree courses in Literature with Archeology or Art-History subject areas in the universities and art academies and enrolled in the respective improving schools, Specialist Studies and PHD’s of the above-mentioned courses of EVERY member State of the European Union. The ticket is released to the students by showing a certificate of registration in the current academic year;
  • Socrates and Erasmus students of the above-mentioned degree courses;
  • Art-History teachers in High-schools;
  • Students of the following schools: Central Institute of Restoration, Opificio delle Pietre Dure, School for Mosaic Restoration;
  • Journalists enrolled in the national register and journalists coming from any other country, in the performance of their duties and upon presentation of a suitable document proving the professional activity carried out;
  • People with disabilities and one family member or a helper belonging to the health and social assistance service;
  • Volunteers who carry out promotion and dissemination activities of the Cultural Heritage, on the basis of the agreements concluded with the Ministry, according to art. 112, paragraph
  • Project “Born with Culture” (agreement with a three-year validity: from 29/11/2018 to 29/11/2021): a cultural passport for every newborn, that allows free entrance to the Park to the child and the family (up to 2 accompanying persons) until the baby’s first birthday.

Any right to a reduction or to a free admission has to be proved by the ticketing staff.

Cards

ROMA PASS
Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are part of the Roma Pass network.

Roma Pass does not allow:
- access to the Palatine Museum and to the other sites included in the SUPER ticket​
- access to the Colosseum Arena, Underground and Belvedere.

Roma Pass holders access from a dedicated entrance always accompanied by an authorized tour guide. They cannot be more than 13 PAX.

From March 1st, the reservation is mandatory.

BOOKING PROCEDURE FOR ROMA PASS HOLDERS
It is possible to book the entry time:

  • online, at a cost of € 2,00 per person
  • via call center, by calling the phone number 06 39 967 575, at a cost of € 2,00 per person
  • at the  ticket offices of  Roman Forum/Palatine, free of charge, only on the same day after checking the availability.

In the case the visitor arrive to the entrance without the Roma Pass ticket, it won’t be possible to access the monument, even if the visitor has the reservation.

In the case of a group of people among which any of them are entitled to free admission, they can collect the free ticket at the reservation desk, paying the reservation fee of € 2.00 per person.

The visitor can also purchase the Roma Pass ticket while making the reservation of the entry time, only online or via call center. After paying, the visitor can collect the card at the ticket office of Palazzo Merulana, from 8.30 to 21.00 from Monday to Sunday, except Tuesday.
 

REQUEST FOR TAX RECEIPT
We inform our customers that, from May 1st, 2018, exclusively for purchases made on our online portal, the method of requesting the tax document has changed.
The request can be done simultaneously with the purchase by clicking on the option "you want to receive a receipt".
A special form has been created which must be filled out in its entirety at the time the order is placed.
The new procedure replaces entirely the previous one adopted until now.

Groups and individual

TICKETS WITH ENTRANCE TIME FOR GROUPS AND INDIVIDUAL VISITORS
The ticket “Colosseum/Roman Forum and Palatine Hill + ongoing exhibitions” is valid for 2 consecutive days from the first use for 1 entrance to the Colosseum, at the reserved time, and 1 entrance to the Roman Forum/palatine Hill within the term of validity of the ticket. 
The pre-sale of the admission tickets for individual visitors and groups is bound to a precise time, and the prepayment at the same time of the reservation is mandatory. The reservation is mandatory for groups; groups must be made up of a minimum of 14 participants and a maximum of 50.
Free tickets cannot be booked online, but only by phone via call center. Otherwise, you can directly collect free tickets at the ticket office the day of the visit paying the reservation fee.  

COLOSSEUM ARENA TICKET
The “Colosseum Arena” ticket let the visitors to directly access to the arena. This ticket is reserved for groups and visitors with an authorized tour guide.
After having visited the arena overlooking the undergrounds, visitors can decide to freely visit the monument through the ordinary path. The guided tour service is not provided.
Groups must be made up of maximum 50 people.
The service is not provided on the free Sundays

Stationing and access, in accordance with the booked entrance time:

10 minutes for ticketing and security control practices
10 minutes provided for the access and the stationing on the arena 
10 minutes for moving to the cross and entrance to the ordinary path of the Colosseum

Schools

Reservation for schools is mandatory and the tickets have to be collected to one of the reservation desk of the Colosseum, Arch of Titus, and Roman Forum. The access reserved for schools is the Stern entrance.

Schools from European Union book their entrance for free.

The entrance ticket is free upon presentation of the list, on the school letterhead, with the names of the students and teachers, divided into classes and signed by the Headmaster. 

Non-European schools book their entrance on payment and must show at the entrance a declaration of the school ensuring that it is a school group. The entrance ticket is free for people under 18 years old showing a valid Identity Card. There are no free admissions for the couriers.

School groups can be made up of maximum 50 participants.

If you wrongly book tickets for school instead of tickets for a regular group or if the conditions are no longer met or the required papers are insufficient, it won’t be possible to enter the monument and it will be necessary to purchase the right tickets, after checking the availability.

 

 

ACCESS PROCEDURES

  • GROUP GATE AND VISITORS WITH A RESERVATION ACCOMPANIED BY AN AUTHORIZED TOUR GUIDE

Flexibility for access is allowed up to 15 minutes after the booked time.

In the event of a longer delay, visitors will not be able to access the monument, tickets will not be refunded and a new purchase may be made according to availability.
 

  • INDIVIDUAL VISITORS GATE

Through the individual visitors gate access is granted to:

individual visitors who have to buy the ticket
visitors already in possession of a time scheduled ticket purchased at the external checkouts of the central archaeological area;
visitors with time scheduled tickets, with guided tours, with audioguides, with videoguides
ROME PASS holders.

Flexibility for access is allowed up to 15 minutes after the booked time.

In the event of a longer delay, visitors will not be able to access the monument, tickets will not be refunded and a new purchase may be made according to availability.
 

  • STERN GATE

Through the individual visitors gate access is granted to:

Colosseum + Arena ticket holders
Underground and Belvedere
schools already in possession of the entrance ticket. School groups will have to collect their entrance tickets from one of the reservation desks of the Colosseum, Arco di Tito, Foro Romano, etc.

At the entrance to the Varco Stern, in front of Via Labicana, it will be mandatory to present at the ticket office a list with the names and dates of birth of the participants on stamped and signed letterhead.

Groups must present the list on the agency's headed paper.

Authorised tour guides must submit a signed declaration with their licence details.

To enter the Arena it is mandatory to book, at no charge, the guide's free ticket.

Visitors with a reservation for Coopculture educational tours in Sotterranei and Belvedere must present a valid identity document at the ticket office.

In relation to the access procedures established for visitors at the Stern gate, for any type of service booked, we remind you that the ticketing staff can carry out random checks by asking the visitors their IDs to verify the correspondence with the lists presented. If the list handed at the entrance, with names and dates of birth of the participants, does not correspond to the actual group, visitors will not be able to access from the Stern gate and will not be able to use the services booked.

It will be necessary to show up at the dedicated access gate 15 minutes before the reserved time to undergo the security checks with the metal detector and to complete the ticketing procedures.
